Singapore passes Data Protection Act

Singapore’s Data Protection Bill was passed in Parliament yesterday, after a lengthy debate. Organisations will have 18 months to adjust to the new Personal Data Protection Act, starting January 2013 before rules come into force (not 2 years).

The ‘Do Not Call’ register will be set up in early 2014.

See here for commentary on the draft.  More details and analysis of Act as passed will follow.

Thanks to Elle for today’s update.
